Can AI write queries instead of the DBA?
It can write a first version, often in seconds. On its own, it does not know what the company’s data means, which exceptions apply or how heavy the query is on the live database. That is why the decision stays with the DBA. The query is read, tested on a copy and compared with a known result before it is used. The course teaches exactly this kind of check.
Which is the best AI for writing SQL?
We don’t rank tools. Claude and ChatGPT both write convincing SQL, and both can get it wrong. That is why method matters more. To write a query, the assistant only needs the table structure, not the data. The result is checked on a copy, and performance is measured before and after. The course uses the tool your organisation has approved. If two tools are approved, they are tested on the same tasks against written criteria.
Can Claude or ChatGPT be connected to the database?
Yes, with rules agreed in advance. The assistant reads without being able to change anything, through dedicated accounts and only on the tables or views it needs. Where needed, it works on an always-in-sync copy instead of the live database. In Oracle Enterprise Edition this copy is a paid option, and we say so up front. Access is logged.
Does this apply to databases other than Oracle?
The rules do. Read-only access, dedicated accounts, visible queries and scripts tested before use apply to any database. The examples and the practical exercise, however, use Oracle, the database our Oracle & Database Engineering division works on.
What changes with Oracle 26ai?
26ai is the long-term release of Oracle Database and the destination for the next upgrades from 19c. It brings search by meaning, known as vector search, into the database itself, and Oracle states that this is included with no extra fee. It does require the database to be organised differently, and before the switch you check that your ERP vendor supports the new version. In the course, AI helps prepare and review the upgrade scripts, and vector search is tried out on a test database.
